Other Advent Calendar Ideas for Teenagers & Tweens
It can be such a tricky age to cajoul into the festive spirit. But you know they are just desperate for an excuse to let it out. And an advent calendar can be the perfect way to do so.
What about a homemade Photo Advent Calendar? A great excuse to print out some of the 1000s of photos on their phones and social accounts!
Or a Christmas Movie Advent Calendar. Everyone add their top few movies to a jar and select one each day to snuggle down and watch, complete with matching snacks of course! Or use our free ready made Christmas Movie Calendar if you want to save yourself the work!
Alternatively, go for something completely different and try a Kindness Advent Calendar that the whole family can join in – sharing Christmas cheer in your local community each day of December.
Advent Calendar Treats vs Stocking Stuffers
If you’re wondering whether you’ll still be able to stuff your teen’s stocking with all these advent calendar treats, here’s my top tips from years of filling calendars for my teenage sons:
- Advent calendars are all about the Christmas countdown. It’s a great opportunity to lean into all the fabulous festive-themed treats in the stores. Focus on things your teen or tween can enjoy using throughout December and save the longer term goodies for Christmas Day.
- Advent calendars don’t need to be excessive. Don’t feel the need to add an expensive or larger treat every day. Mix it up with little homemade treats or chocolates most days and then a few larger gifts other days if you’d prefer. It’s your calendar; create it how you want!
- Split packets up. If you’ve bought a multi-pack of an item, spread them out over multiple days to make them last longer.
