Berry & Candy Cane Gin

behind the scenes

Dash, Dance & Prance Your Way to this Candy Candy Gin

Candy canes are as synonymous with the festive season as Christmas Trees and Santa Claus. And while they may be more common on the other side of the Atlantic, their presence and popularity has been growing here over the last few years.

That being said, I still don’t know too many people over the age of 5 who enjoy eating a candy cane in the way that was perhaps initially intended!

So instead, we’ve incorporated peppermint into the seasonal flavours and the infamous pinstripe is being added into all sorts of décor from wreaths to tablecloths. The candy cane has well and truly landed in the UK and we are ready to embrace it!

And so we do, in the way that only we know best, by mixing it with some quintessentially British products…I mean, can it get more British than strawberries and gin?!

And what a great way to use up the last of the summer fruits while simultaneously getting ahead for Christmas.

This Christmas gin recipe requires so little work but makes for a fabulous addition to your festive drinks cart. With it’s gorgeous scarlet hue and whisper of peppermint, it is both refreshing and warming at the same time.

Plus, it makes for a FABULOUS homemade Christmas cocktail gift –what more could you ask for?

Now I should say, don’t worry if the candy canes break as you unwrap them. As one of the most impatient people in the world I am fully aware how frustrating the tight plastic wrapper on candy canes can be!

However, the candy canes dissolve into the alcohol so it doesn’t matter whether they stay whole or are broken into shards, you will still end up with the most wonderful Christmas flavoured gin.

Pour over ice, top off with tonic, garnish with a mini candy cane and sit back –Christmas is on its way!
