Christmas S'mores Sandwich

behind the scenes

Gimme S’more of that Christmas Chocolate

Hailing from the US, s’mores are synonymous with warm summer nights and outdoor barbecues, so why are we featuring a Christmas version we hear you ask!

No, we are not suggesting you layer up and face the cold British December weather all for a marshmallow and biscuit sandwich!!! Rather, we are bringing the outdoors into our kitchens with a version that can be made in the oven and incorporates all of your favourite Christmas chocolates –all hail these Christmas s’mores!

Christmas S'mores

Calling this is a recipe hardly seems right, it’s more like a layering of ingredients that you likely already have in your store cupboard.

They are a great way to use up that packet of Rich Tea biscuits that you’ve had on the back shelf for months and are great for reviving some of those Christmas chocolates that you might be growing old of come December 27.

We love using After Eights and Terry’s Chocolate Orange, but any chocolate will work here –leftover Quality Street or Roses would be delicious!

But our favourite way to enjoy these is alongside a hot chocolate station –what could be a more perfect accompaniment?!

Stacked S'mores

Now, if we do find ourselves enjoying a mild winter, or if you didn’t get your fill of outdoor Christmas gatherings last December then please feel free to venture outside and toast the marshmallows over a fire pit in a more traditional way!

But please know, we will be enjoying ours from the comfort of the couch, kept toasty warm with blankets and central heating!!

Either way…give these a try and see if you can figure out why they were originally named “Some More” –we promise it won’t take you long!

  • 3 After Eights
  • 3 Terry's Chocolate Orange segments
  • 4 Quality Street or Roses unwrapped

  • Place 10 Rich Tea biscuits on the tray and top with the chocolates.
  • Put the marshmallows on top of each chocolate and place under the grill (either on the middle or bottom rack of the oven) for 2-3 minutes until the marshmallows are puffed up and lightly toasted on top.
  • Remove from the oven and immediately place the remaining 10 Rich Tea biscuits on top of the marshmallow to make a sandwich; gently push down as you place the biscuit on top so that the marshmallow becomes a little squished.
