There’s plenty of Christmas cheer to be found at The Christmas Cotswold Fair, held this year at Todenham Manor Farm, just outside Moreton-in-Marsh (with 450 hard standing parking spaces available to book after some challenges in this area last year.)

Over 220 carefully selected stalls are spread across its iconic marquees with the fair describing itself as the epitome of ‘shop independent’.  An opportunity to purchase directly from unique designers with 10% of all stallholder purchases going to national charity WellChild.

Book signings from household names such as Alexander Armstrong, Jilly Cooper & Kaleb Cooper – no relation to each other as far as I am aware 🙂 – keep the celeb list high.

Pre-bookable hands-on workshops, included in your ticket price, cover a multitude of topics from Indian block painting to Christmas tablescaping and even how to create the ultimate Christmas sandwich(!), not to mention the Espresso Martini masterclass fair opener on Monday evening!

Christmas Fairs or Christmas Markets?

I’ve spent far too long trying to work out the difference between a Christmas Fair and a Christmas Market.  The two phrases get used interchangeably and there’s no official dictionary definition to worry about.  However, they often conjure up slightly different images in people’s minds.  So in case you were wondering, and for the purposes of this article, …

Christmas Markets are typically held outside, often in a town centre.  Whilst they do include designers selling artisanal crafts from stalls, the market will typically extend beyond the shopping experience, with plenty of food and drink stalls, and seasonal entertainment too (fairground rides, ice-skating rinks, etc.).

Christmas Fairs are typically held indoors at an exhibition centre or local hall.  The emphasis is firmly on gift inspiration for what to put under the tree.   There will usually be some food outlets and often workshops available to complement this but they are primarily gift showcases for local designers and independent brands.
