- Family Friendly
- Time & Effort
- Supplies Needed
It’s so easy to spend so much of the Christmas season curled up indoors. I mean, why wouldn’t you?! With Christmas movies to watch, soft blankets to snuggle under and yummy treats to nibble on, there no real reason to venture into the cold, dark December weather.
But this extra time inside can mean that you find yourself with some rather hyper active, super excitable children!
Now, I’m sure I don’t need to harp on about the benefits of regular movement for children, we’re told it constantly right? It helps mood, sleep not to mention the opportunities it provides to work on building strength and activity tolerance as well as coordination. Let’s be honest…it sometimes feels like movement, or exercise, is a one stop fix-all!

15 Jolly Festive Winter Walks
Want to get out of the house for some family friendly winter fun? Check out our selection of winter walks including scavenger hunt printables!
And while we know that’s definitely not the case, there is no denying that engaging the little ones in something helps to burn off some of that pent up energy is probably not a bad idea!
So, to give a little inspiration, we’ve made a set of FREE printable Christmas movement cards for you to use at home with your little ones. Just print them out, cut them up and away you go! I’ll be honest, I do like to laminate them too, just for longevity, but that step is most definitely not necessary.
Use them for an afternoon game of “Simon Says…” or what about as a way to find different Christmas treats hidden around the house as a sort of scavenger hunt?! And if that weather does clear up for a minute then take them with you on your winter walk too? What could be Christmassy than a December stroll with your little one galloping like a reindeer?!
