Gifting this year is all about finding beautiful presents for our loved ones, whilst supporting smaller independent businesses. So, it’s time to introduce you to some of our favourite artisan brands, all of which sell gorgeous kitchenware gifts – cooking equipment, tableware, linens and decorative kitchen pieces – perfect for popping under the tree.
We loved the businesses highlighted below well before 2020 came along..! But, now we want to sing their praises even louder, to ensure that they can continue to help us all create the kitchens of our dreams for many more years to come.
What Is An Indie Shop?
There has been a trend towards more ethical and sustainable shopping in recent years, with people looking to cut down on plastics and disposable products, and instead focus on making longer lasting purchases.
And, now, people are more eager than ever to support smaller or local independent (or ‘Indie’) designers and retailers, who have had their businesses literally turned upside down by the events of the last few months.
Many of these companies depend hugely on the Christmas Fair season which of course has been severely impacted by covid-19. And, whilst this has been a huge blow, it has also resulted in tremendous ingenuity and determination amongst these entrepreneurs to find alternative ways to connect with shoppers. (Check out our round-up of online Christmas Fairs that have sprung up in their place.)
The artisan kitchenware gifts and brands below each have a heart-warming personal story behind them. The companies may be at different stages in their journey – some, like Grey Acorn Interiors, are just starting out whilst others, such as Emma Bridgewater, are already established household names. But each business shares a passion for quality, creativity and thoughtful design & production, which makes them pretty special in our eyes.
We’ve shared one of our favourite pieces from each designer’s collection to whet your appetite. But, these are talented creators and their ranges warrant full investigation. So, do click through and further explore the wealth of talent and gorgeous kitchenware gifts available for purchase.
Which other independent artisan kitchenware designers do you adore? Or perhaps you run an indie business yourself? Do get in touch; we’re always eager to find out about new brands and would love to share them with our readers.
