The concept of turning puff pastry into a Christmas tree is not new! In fact, the internet seems to be filled with suggestions for different Christmas puff pastry styles from snowflakes through to wreaths. But it was the idea of turning it into a Christmas tree that Hannah and I discovered a few years ago and we definitely latched on!
The version we saw was stuffed full of that gorgeously hazelnutty chocolate spread –you know the one I mean…covered with icing sugar it made the perfect festive brunch, snack, lunch, dinner…don’t judge us please!!

With a pepperoni pizza option, as well as a vegetarian blue cheese and caramelized leek creation and a delicious Biscoff variation for dessert, there is a puff pastry Christmas tree for everyone!

Pepperoni Pizza Puff Pastry Christmas Tree
Ingredients
- 500 g puff pastry thawed if frozen
- 6 tbsp passata
- 100 g mozzarella grated
- approx 20 pieces pepperoni
- 1 egg lightly beaten
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 200C and line a baking tray with greaseproof paper.
- Divide the pastry in half and roll each half into a large rectangle.
- Place one of the rectangles onto the baking tray and cut into the form of a Christmas tree, ensuring you leave a trunk at the bottom!
- Spread the passata over the Christmas tree in a thin layer. Sprinkle with mozzarella and add the pepperoni, leaving a couple of pieces for decoration.
- Place the second rectangle of puff pastry over the filling and trace the shape underneath. Remove the excess pastry (you can make a star to add to the top if you like!)
- Cut branches into the tree, ensuring that they become smaller towards the top. Gently twist each branch, trying to get at least 2 twists on the lower branches.
- Add the egg wash and top with the remaining pieces of pepperoni.
- Bake in the oven until puffed up and golden brown, approximately 18-20 minutes.
- Allow to cool for 2-3 minutes before serving.
