Slow Cooker + Hot Chocolate = Christmas Cheer in a Cup
Nothing says perfect December day quite like wrapping your hands around a steaming cup of hot chocolate after you return home from a crisp winter walk.
But sometimes the process can feel a little arduous particularly if you have the whole family returning home with you and suddenly you have to churn out cup after cup of hot chocolate.
Well never fear! I have the solution for just this problem…slow cooker hot chocolate. Not only does it require virtually no effort at all, but you can leave it melting away while you enjoy that long family walk.
Plus, that beautiful “keep warm” feature on the slow cooker really comes into its own here and means that you can have a delicious cup of hot chocolate just seconds away the whole evening!

15 of our favourite ideas for festive winter walks. Free, easy & perfect for getting the whole family out & about regardless of the weather!

Two things. Firstly, trust me on the combination of milk and dark chocolate in this slow cooker hot chocolate recipe. The dark chocolate adds depth and richness while the milk chocolate gives just the perfect sweetness without making it sickly.
Second, the ratio of milk to cream is important. While I’m not going to pretend that whole milk is a diet food, using a larger proportion of milk to cream does mean that this hot chocolate recipe is indulgent without being so rich that you won’t be able to finish the cup.
Because…let’s be honest…no one likes wasted hot chocolate!!

And when it comes to toppings, well that’s when you can really go to town. From whipped cream and marshmallows to candy canes and cocoa powder, the possibilities are endless.
And, if you’re feeling particularly indulgent then this slow cooker hot chocolate does pair perfectly with a cookie jar sprinkle cookie…or two!
