behind the scenes
Swap Out Turkey for Beef with this Slow Cooker Turkey Mince Chilli
I hear you, all those people saying that chilli is not a traditional Christmas meal, but I’m not suggesting that you serve this up in place of Christmas dinner.
Nor am I even suggesting that this become your go-to recipe to use up leftover turkey (although it would work well for that!).
Instead, this turkey mince chilli is perfect for those busy nights in the run-up to Christmas where we don’t have time to spend hours in the kitchen but still want a nourishing and warming meal on the table.

While there is no doubt that chilli is normally made with mince beef, using turkey mince in chili creates a slightly lighter version, while also celebrating the meat of the season!
And do not be scared by the chilli powder here. This is not a hot chilli. Instead the heat just adds depth of flavour, while the chipotle gives a gorgeous smokiness to this slow cooker turkey chili recipe.

And then come the toppings.
And for me, it’s all about the toppings.
Toppings always seem to elevate a bowl of chilli from being just a comforting meal to being THE MOST DELICIOUS comforting meal EVER!
My favourites are without a doubt spring onions, coriander and mountains of grated cheese. But if you want to add sour cream, tortilla chips or even avocado, you go right ahead –there are no rules here, just scrumptious mouthfuls to enjoy!
